Michael Bucciero joined Smith Dawson & Andrews in December of 2006. Mr. Bucciero has spent the last six years as a Washington-based government relations professional . He possesses a strong background in the areas of International Trade, Transportation and small to medium sized Information Technology companies who specialize in Information Security. In the area of information technology, he has represented software firms with product in encryption, data mining, facial recognition and security convergence technology.

Prior to lobbying, Mr. Bucciero was Managing Director of Atlanta Perishables and Equine Center, Inc., where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of a perishable and equine cargo complex at Atlanta Airport. Previous to this position, Mr. Bucciero was the CEO of U.S. Perishables, Inc., a company that developed and operated a perishable cargo complex at JFK Airport.

Before beginning his service with U.S. Perishables, Mr. Bucciero held several positions in the area of international business, export development and government relations. While employed at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, he held positions as Deputy Director, International Trade Programs including the overseas offices in London, Zurich and Tokyo, Director, Task Force on International Trade and Washington Representative.

In the areas of government relations, Mr. Bucciero held several posts in Washington, DC including Washington Representative for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As Deputy Assistant Secretary of HUD, he was a member of the Secretary’s Policy Steering Group and was the principal liaison to the nation’s state and local officials. Prior to his tenure at HUD, Mr. Bucciero served as a Special Assistant in the US Department of Commerce, focusing on regional economic development.

Mr. Bucciero attended Boston College and is a graduate of Merrimack College. He also holds an M.P.A. from Pennsylvania State University.
