Today, all aspects of security are receiving increased attention by local, state and national government agencies and by commercial entities. Threats to ongoing business range from cyber attacks to physical assaults against personnel and properties. However, the approach to managing physical security has been falling significantly short in desired results. This is primarily due to the fact that most organizations deal with physical security on a point solution basis, as opposed to an integrative manner.

SENTRYPORT SENTINEL™ is a web based, Intelligent Security Decision Support System designed to globally monitor an environment by integrating traditional, disparate, monitoring/alarm devices, back office systems and external public security agencies. SENTRYPORT SENTINEL continuously accrues and cultivates this combined data to learn its environment. Anomalies to these learned patterns of environmental activity are the basis for the SENTRYPORT SENTINEL Threat Prediction capabilities. Typically benign, singular occurrences take on greater meaning when observed with similar or concurrent environmental activities, whether an individual is consistently denied access to a room, area or facility during off hours or that same individual’s access is concurrent with suspicious alarm signal generation in another location.

Underlying SENTRYPORT SENTINEL are two breakthrough proprietary intelligence systems:

Inductive Reasoning Intelligence System (IRIS)

IRIS is an alarm management system that increases the security director’s effectiveness in controlling facility risks by integrating the installation’s security management policies with the company’s operational environment. Unlike rules based systems, changes in the secured environment are easily encapsulated in IRIS cases.

IRIS is a Case-Based Reasoning system that:

• Suppresses false and nuisance alarms
• Amplifies sequential alarms
• Marks anomalous data for human examination
• Provides the information necessary to create an effective alarm mitigation strategy

IRIS is built to handle foreseen events. It is backed up by STARS, our intelligent inductive knowledge engine that is designed to uncover unforeseen patterns. Together, IRIS and STARS create a dynamic, seamless coverage of reactive and proactive behaviors to give SentryPort Sentinel its unique threat detection and prediction capability.

Self Teaching Alarm Response System (STARS)

STARS is an Adaptive Machine Learning system that utilizes a proprietary sequence graph algorithm to “learn” the characteristics of its environment. It continuously monitors for anomalies in patterns or behaviors within that environment, filtering out common events and highlighting unusual occurrences. STARS works in unison with IRIS, and continually provides it with additional cases corresponding to the knowledge STARS acquires.

STARS is unique in that it:

• Learns without human intervention,
• Is extremely efficient at detecting normal patterns in the activation stream,
• Can learn at the same time that it processes the activation stream,
• Adapts to changes in the secured environment by progressively “forgetting” previously normal patterns that are no longer relevant, and
• Suppresses false and nuisance alarms
• Highlights unusual events as they occur for human intervention.

SENTRYPORT SENTINEL can interface with a security monitoring system and handheld devices in a number of ways.

The incoming stream of alarm data is collected and processed to extract meaningful patterns of information that may be just above the level of noise. The ‘Connect the Dots’ Intelligence Generation from a combination of alarm monitoring data and IRIS and STARS intelligence, will provide proactive responses to typically disassociated data. The processed alarm & intelligence stream then triggers SENTRYPORT SENTINEL to display the relevant protocol, notify the proper first responder and send that responder appropriate information, such as MSDS’s (Material Safety Data Sheets), via a variety of wired or wireless devices.
